One of the important Hindu festivals is Raksha Bandhan. Sisters on this day tied a holy knot known as Rakhi on the hands of their brothers. Over a week has gone debate is going on that Raksha Bandhan is on the 11th or 12th of this month.? Raksha Bandhan is generally celebrated on the full moon day of Sharavan month. According to Hindu mythology, one tithi is consisting of two Karans. There are thirty tithi in one lunar month. They are 01-Pratipada, 02 - Dwitiya, 03 - Tritiya, 04 - Chaturthi, 05 - Panchami, 06 - Shashthi, 07 - Saptami, 08 - Ashtami, 09 - Navami, 10 - Dashami, 11 - Ekadashi, 12 - Dwadashi, 13 - Triyodashi, 14 - Chaturdashi & 15 - Poornima. These tithi’s repeated twice in one lunar month. Half part of each tithi is known as Karan, so in this way there are two Karans in each tithi. In this way there are sixty Karans in a single lunar month. But actually, there are only eleven Karans are there, out of these eleven Karans, seven are movable and four are fixed. The movable Karans are 01 - Bav, 02 - Balav, 03 - Kaulav, 04 - Taitil, 05 - Gar, 06 - Vaniz & 07 - Vishti. There are four Karans 01 – Shakuni, 02 – Chatushpada, 03 – Naag, 04 – Kistunghan. These eleven Karans repeated in a certain order to cover the complete lunar month. The presence of Vishti Karna is known as Bhadra. Bhadra occurs four times in one Paksha of a month. Bhadra occurs in the eastern half of Purnima and Ashtami in the Shukla Paksha. In the same way, it occurs in the northern half of Chaturthi and Ekadashi. In Krishna Paksha, Bhadra occurs in the northern half of Tritiya and Dashami. In the same way, it occurs in the eastern half of Saptami and Chaturdashi. On the 11th of August, there is a Bhadra, because of the presence of Vishti Karan on Poornima. This combination is supposed to be inauspicious, that’s why the Raksha Bandhan should not be celebrated tomorrow on the 11th and should be celebrated on the 12th of August because of the presence of Balav Karan on this day. According to Muhurta Chintamani and other scriptures, many activities are prohibited during Bhadra. These include the Mundan ceremony, shifting to a new home, marriage ceremony, Raksha Bandhan (Rakhi), an auspicious journey, starting with a new business, etc. In fact, all kinds of auspicious activities are prohibited in Bhadra. #RakshaBandhan #rakshabandhan2022 #rakshabandhanspecial #dateofrakshabandhan #whatstarsays #bhadrakal #astrology
